How to Tie the Alberto Knot

  1. Prepare Leader Line: Start by placing the main fishing line between the neoprene cleat. Using Fluorocarbon/Monofilament with 8-10 inches of tag end, wrap around the short post and bring it back and cleat the same side creating a loop. (Make just snug and not too tight.)
  2. Prepare Braid Line: Cleat braid on opposite side with 8-10 inches of tag end.
  3. Thread and Wrap your Braid Line: Bring your braid up between the fluoro/mono and make 7 to 8 wraps, evenly spaced. Go around the tall post and make 7 to 8 additional wraps over the top of the first wraps.
  4. Finish Threading Line: Thread braid line back down between the fluoro/mono. There you have it! The Alberto Knot is tied.
  5. Remove from Tool: Uncleat each end and take out of the Uncle Jim Alberto Knot Tying Tool.
  6. Tighten the Knot: Wet your line and evenly pull fluorocarbon/monofilament and braid until knot is compressed.
  7. Trim Excess Line: Trim tag ends close. Practice to cut the fluoro/mono as close as possible, braid not so close. Now you’re done, and you have a very small, very strong knot!
